Painters District Council 53 FTI of WV and Region

The Finishing Trades Institute sponsors five apprenticeship programs – Commercial Painting, Industrial Painting, Drywall, Glaziers and HydroBlaster/Vacuum Technician.  Applications are accepted daily from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM year round with the exception of holidays and weekends.

These are three year programs (except HydroBlaster is two and Industrial Painting is four) where apprentices will learn all aspects of the trade through both paid on-the-job experience and related classroom training.

All applicants must fully meet the following minimum qualifications to qualify:

  •  Age- All applicants shall be at least eighteen (18) years of age. (With the exception of school to work students) Applicants are required to submit birth certificate for proof of age.
  • Education- Shall possess sufficient educational knowledge to satisfactorily complete the on-the- job training and related technical instruction and be in possession of a high school diploma or GED. Applicants are required to submit high school diploma or GED.
  • Physical- Shall be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of individual or others.
  • Testing- All applicants apply for Glazier trade must take a Reading and MC/AP tests at Job Service locations.
  • Driver’s License- All applicants shall provide valid proof of driver’s license.
