WV KLM Carpenter Training Center
Carpentry is a vast trade and the skills our members provide begins with our extensive training programs. The Apprenticeship Program offers a four-year program in the area of carpentry — commercial, residential and heavy construction. Additionally, separate specialized programs exist for floor laying, cabinet making, and mill working. You can also become a pile driver or a millwright. In the program, safety and professional skills are emphasized. Interested applicants must pass certain testing requirements before acceptance in the program, including:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
18 years of age
- High school graduate or hold the equivalent GED
- Must be physically capable of performing the work of the trade
- Must have a valid driver’s license and suitable transportation
- Must be available for full-time employment when called by a union official
- At the time of application, a non-refundable processing fee (varies by state) will be required and the applicant will be told when to return for testing.
As part of the final selection process, the applicant will be responsible for the expense of a physical by a doctor of his/her choice and a drug test by a drug-testing laboratory chosen by the Joint Apprentice Committee. In addition, random drug tests may be conducted at any time while in the Apprenticeship Program.

- Ability to work with others as part of a crew
- Positive attitude towards school – must see it as an opportunity, not just a requirement

MOBILITY:
Opportunities in construction depend heavily upon the ability of the individual to travel throughout the area of union jurisdiction to wherever workers are needed.
APPLICATION
The Keystone + Mountain + Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters is accepting applications at each of the following Training Centers:
- Commercial Carpenter applications are accepted every Wednesday
(8:00 am – 3:30 pm) year round with classes starting in February, June, and October - Floor Coverer, Heavy Highway, Mill Cabinet, Millwright, and Pile Driver Training Program applications are being accepted every Wednesday (8:00 am – 3:30 pm) year round with classes starting in June
